Aug 14, 2022 PDG would like to congratulate Ana Paola Leos Ortiz! Ana is the first student from Camosun College to be awarded the Passion Dental Group Dental Assistant Student Sponsorship Award. Ana Paola is from Monclova, Coahuila, Mexico. Her passion is her family and her career. After finishing high school, she wanted to be in healthcare; so, while speaking with her father (who is one of her favourite superheroes), he suggested that she study Dentistry. She began her studies at the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon, in Monterrey, Mexico, in 2001. After completing dental school, she finished two more years of university and become an Orthodontist. Ana Paola practiced dentistry in Mexico until 2021, then moved to Canada to search for a better and safer quality of life for her family. Ana Paola’s goal is to pass the NDBE, and become licenced to practice dentistry in Canada. She chose to enroll in the Certified Dental Assisting program as a first step in this process. Every day she learned something new and perfected her skills. She is confident this was the correct decision to begin her dental career in Canada: Ana Paola enjoys taking care of the patients, educating them, and helping them to relax when they feel anxious. This is her passion; it is what makes her happy and she is enjoying her life in this beautiful country. Ana Paola Leos Ortiz was chosen as the recipient of the Passion Dental Group Dental Assistant Student Sponsorship Award by the CDA Faculty based on her exemplary demonstration of the Passion Dental Group core values. Throughout the program, Ana Paola exhibited a positive and selfless attitude; constantly helping her peers when they needed assistance. She was approachable, respectful, and demonstrated all the qualities of a professional. We congratulate Ana Paola and wish her the best in her career journey!
